As soon as men finds out their wife are pregnant, the first thing they do is to go buy a camera for recording the first special moments of their baby. The first time their baby opens their eyes, the first time they smile, those moments will be lost and gone forever, unless captured and preserved for all time because they grow up so quickly.
It is important to document the innocence of youth by capturing it in a picture, to anchor the memories around happy times.
A baby will continue to grow and develop into a child. Perhaps you still take a picture of your child until he is developing into a child. However, Child photography is different from baby photography. Baby photography or newborn photography involves more time and effort as compared to child photography. Well that does not mean that child photography is easy, it’s just that here the models are little grown up and probably can support your efforts a little. However, the photographer really needs to understand their model first to make task easier.
Four Child Photography Tips:
1. Capturing the precious Moment
Kids are the natural actors followed by creating an adventure atmosphere. Let your child play and then capture the moment whether it’s action, displays of emotions, documenting situations, portraying clothing, recording special events, illustrating participation in sports, showing elements of childhood play or creating humorous images of children imitating adults.
2. Shoot Like a Pro
One of the secrets of photography is that capturing the one precious moment may take more than one shot. It will takes several shots and you don’t see the best one until later when looking back at the pictures. Shooting digitally allows you to immediately look at your shots, so that you can delete or save the good ones. However, you might miss the great one if you do that because the kids don’t stop playing, they keep moving.
So here’s a suggestion, rather than shoot one picture and look at the picture, it’s better if you shoot and shoot and look the pictures later. You can always delete the ones you don’t like, but you will never be able to recapture the missed moment while you looked at the pictures one at a time.
3. Get In Close or Zoom In
Most amateurs photographers are have a tendency to pick up a camera and then immediately to step back from their subject and then capture the subject from a long distance. That’s not a good idea when taking pictures of your children. With children, you simply have to get in close, then optically or digitally zoom in the rest of the way to really fill the frame with those expressive little faces.
4. Shooting Manually Rather Than Automatically
You may decide that you want to try some hands on manual adjusting rather than to rely on your automatic settings after looking at your pictures and after becoming familiar with your camera. Most digital cameras allow for manual adjustment and come with easy instructions.
Once a child is in motion, only shutter speeds faster than 1/125 of a second are going to produce clear photos. The faster the shutter speed the better. You will also have to adjust the aperture setting. The aperture determines how much light is let into the camera.
I recommend to follow these four child photography tips and have fun with the camera as well as enjoy the kids as they play. Snap away while they play and you will find those special moments. I hope these child photography tips are useful.
